AMERICAN RED CROSS HOLDS 6-MONTH PRESS BRIEFING ON HAITI

As you know, nearly six months ago, we witnessed one of the worst disasters in modern history. The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12 destroyed nearly 190,000 houses, killed more than 200,000 people and displaced 1.5 million more, forcing many to resettle in more than 1,300 makeshift camps in and around Port-au-Prince.  Your response in support of the American Red Cross relief effort was absolutely tremendous.  Still, although much progress has been made, we know that many challenges still remain ahead of us.

On Thursday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, the American Red Cross is holding a press briefing to provide you with an update of the relief and recovery efforts, discuss the current challenges, and lay out the road ahead.

I welcome you to participate in the call. Details on how to join the call are included in the attached advisory. Please let me know if you have further questions.
