Disaster Tour


The Disaster Tour is an interactive event designed to give community members hands-on experience with the modern disaster response cycle: prepare, respond and recover.  This event is FREE and open to the community. Exhibitors are invited to provide hands-on activities that demonstrate their services to the community.

This year, the Disaster Tour will take place on June 5, 2010, from 10 am- 2 pm, at the Camanche High School in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the tornado that destroyed most of Camanche and Albany on June 3, 1860.

Attendees will have the opportunity to browse through and gather information at various stations, including the following:

  • General Chapter information
  • Be Red Cross Ready: Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed
  • Disaster Services
  • Disaster Services: Sheltering – Try out the cots!
  • Disaster Services: Emergency Response Vehicle
  • Youth Booth
  • Health & Safety classes

Historical Perspective:

  • Camanche Historical Society

Prepare:

  • Gateway Area Chapter “Be Red Cross Ready”

Respond:

  • Camanche Fire Department
  • Gateway Area Chapter Health & Safety

Recover:

  • MIDWEST BUSINESS PRODUCTS
  • River Bend Regional Transit
  • Gateway Area Chapter Disaster Services & Youth Programs
  • Salvation Army
