How does the Luau 2010 help the Gateway Area?

• The recent number of fires in the Gateway Area – 8 fires in the first 7 weeks of 2010 – is just one good reason to attend. Funds raised from this event help ensure that the local Red Cross and our volunteers can
• Respond at a moment’s notice to provide emergency needs to individuals impacted by disasters, like fires & floods, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year;
• Train individuals in our community in life-saving programs like CPR, AED, First Aid, swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and bloodborne pathogens;
• Deliver emergency messages to service members from loved ones, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year;
• Collect life-saving blood and blood products to ensure a safe and adequate supply for those in need;
• Educate & prepare our community for mitigating and minimizing the impact of disaster in our community;
• Train youth to be more prepared through programs like babysitting training, First Aid for Children Today, Basic Aid Training, Masters of Disaster, and MORE;
• Lend a helping hand to support our local heroes – firefighters, emergency medical service personnel, military service members, and the community at-large when we are needed,
• AND MUCH MORE!
